The Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA) provides animal adoption and community programs to the Northern Virginia and D.C. Metropolitan area, as well as animal rescue, control, and wildlife services within Arlington County. For more than 80 years, AWLA has remained committed to its mission to improve the lives of animals and the people who love them by providing resources, care, and protection.

Bridges to Independence
Bridges to Independence does more than offer shelter to homeless people, it provides them with a foundation to rebuild their lives. Created in 1985 by concerned citizens of Arlington and Alexandria, Bridges to Independence works in coordination with public agencies, businesses and community groups to give homeless people the support, shelter, counseling and employment training they need to regain self-sufficiency.

L’Arche Greater Washington, DC
The heart of L’Arche Greater Washington, DC’s work is providing holistic, person-centered belonging and community in inclusive homes for people with disabilities. L’Arche is unique among residential service providers in that core members (adults with intellectual disabilities) and assistants (people without intellectual disabilities who support core members, working as Direct Support Professionals) choose to live life together like a family.

Offender Aid and Restoration
OAR of Arlington, Alexandria, and Falls Church believes in second chances. OAR works on behalf of the community.
Our most intensive program has a low 10% recidivism rate compared to the national 54%. In Community Service, OAR ensures that adults and youth who have been court-ordered to complete their community service hours do so successfully.
This program keeps people out of incarceration to begin with, and also strengthens our community by providing over $3 million of volunteer time to our local nonprofit partners. Our participants have a 90% success rate of completion.

Path Forward
PathForward’s vision is to end homelessness in Arlington County. Founded in 1988 by a few concerned residents, PathForward helps to secure permanent housing and provide life-sustaining services for our homeless neighbors in Arlington, including many veterans, through community outreach and relationship built on trust and respect.

Rock Recovery
Rock Recovery bridges critical gaps in eating disorder treatment and mental health education by providing low-cost therapy groups, peer support services and free community education events and workshops to those who struggle with disordered eating and the loved ones who care for them..

Young Life Capernaum
Young Life Capernaum is an ecumenical Christian organization that is dedicated to serving young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout our community. Through fun club gatherings, meaningful friendships, and supportive mentorship, YL Capernaum provides a welcoming community where teens and young adults can grow in faith, experience adventure, and know they are deeply loved.
